By Annmaree Mitchell

Nestled amongst the snow gums, poised above the Thredbo River and close to all that Thredbo has to offer, both winter and summer. Here's what one of our guests had to say after her stay: "The loft cabin was such a highlight, beautifully decorated with top quality inclusions like the  flat-screen TV, suede sofa bed, comfy main bed, feather doonas, plush pillows and especially the funky fur throws (which my son loved). All appliances and kitchen inclusions were of 5 star standard." Chill-out@Thredbo has: * Open plan living/dining and an oil heater and second wall-mounted heater with remote control * a north east facing balcony, with outdoor table and chairs for two * a bathroom, with a small bath/shower over, washing machine, dryer, heater, hair dryer * Fully ... Delightful Destination: Adelong, NSW
By Kylie Jane Degeling

The Heritage listed country town of Adelong is nestled along the Adelong River to the northwest of the Snowy Mountains. This pretty 19th century town has an array of historic farmhouses, town buildings and plenty of trees, which change colour in a spectacular fashion in autumn. Ghosts of gold diggers long past would likely be thrilled to see how much of their history has been preserved, offering a mixture of charm and beauty to an area that is frequented by bushwalkers and skiers alike, staying in nearby tourist centres.   Things to do: Given Adelong is best known for its golden history, you may want to try your hand at fossicking for gold at Richies Gold Battery located at Adelong Falls Reserve.    Walking the streets of Adelong will provide a feel for the charm of the... Terrific Talbingo
By Kylie Jane Degeling

Mountain views, fishing, sailing and nearby skiing make Talbingo a terrific holiday destination for any time of the year. Despite being a tiny town with a population of less than 300, it is bursting with inspiration. So it isn’t surprising that it was the birth place to one of Australia’s most famous writers, Miles Franklin, who penned My Brilliant Career and All That Swagger in the early 1900s. The spectacular mountain scenery brings out the artist in everyone, so if you have any desire to try your hand at oil or watercolours, don’t forget your easel and brushes. Or you may find yourself wanting to photograph the wild brumbies on your way in, or the many stunning birds of the region with the wonders of Kosciuszko National Park as your backdrop. Things to do: Tal... Read more

Review - Pender Lea Chalets
By Penny Parsons

Pender Lea Chalets Alpine Way, Thredbo Valley, Snowy Mountains New South Wales You’ll want to return time and again. Pender Lea Chalets are secluded, traditional Swiss-style chalets in gorgeous bush surrounds that give you the feeling of being close enough to the action, without always having to be in the thick of things.  It is just off the Alpine Way on a bush property that is also popular for horse-riding in the summer. Overall rating?  Good What makes Pender Lea different? I was traveling with six friends and the chalet was ideal for that, but would equally suit the family as an ideal place to stay for a ski holiday or a bush experience. The property consists of several self-contained chalets of differing configurations to cater for different needs. Accommo... Read more

Skiing at Mt Selwyn
By Lisa Monk

A family ski holiday is one of those things we all want to do, but various issues can make us choose another destination, price obviously being one! However, that first family holiday to the snow is not necessarily out of reach, and can offer enough interest and variety to keep the non-skiers happy as well! What is needed is a family-friendly resort that understands that the needs of family skiers are different to those of others. Mt Selwyn is a friendly ski resort that is ideal for a family ski holiday.  The Selwyn snowfields offer shorter, safer runs due to the gentle nature of the terrain, and the Chum Bowl is probably the best beginners area in the mountains. The ski programs cater to both adults and children, with toddlers as young as 18 months eligible to join the ski school.&n... Read more

Tips for a family trip to the snow
By My Travel Angel Website

Winter is here, and what better way to enjoy the season than a family trip to the snow, which can be as simple as sliding down the slopes on plastic garbage bags or as extravagant as resorts and skiing schools for the children. Whatever you choose, a holiday to the snow is one that is usually enjoyed just as much by the parents as the children. Ski School Much more fun than real school, ski school will teach children how to ski or snowboard and give you some time out to hit the big slopes (or just the spa!). The instructors will put your children in classes according to age and skill and they will be given all the safety equipment, such as helmets for first timers. Classes can run for a few hours on one single day, but it is probably better to keep the consistency and momentum goin... Read more
