What makes Clifton on Northbourne different?
You have the option of self-catering in these apartments, with their well equipped kitchens, or the choice of dining in the restaurant, or ordering room service. You can park in a loading zone outside reception to unload luggage, and there is a lift from the underground carpark to make getting luggage to the apartment easy.
Accommodation overview
This is a modern executive apartment block and the rooms reflect that. Our apartment had 2 rooms, one with a queen-size bed and ensuite (with shower and toilet), the other with 2 single beds. The main bedroom included a walk-in wardrobe with plenty of shelf and hanging space, security safe and access to a balcony with an outdoor setting. The second bedroom was also quite large and had plenty of wardrobe space and room for luggage. It was great to find such a spacious apartment so close to the city.
The beds were very comfortable and the rooms spacious, however we felt that the reading lights in the bedrooms did not provide enough light to read at night.
Facilities overview
The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and there is also an indoor pool and gym. The lobby is well stocked with information on the attractions in the area and there are two computers available for internet access. Free undercover security parking is provided and all rooms have access to Foxtel and in-house movies.
Both bathrooms have heated floors (bliss in a chilly Canberra winter) and the apartment also has r/c air-conditioning.
Location
On the main road into the city of Canberra (Northbourne Ave) and only a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk to the centre of the city.
Suitable for children? Yes
Suitable for pets? No
Wheelchair access? Yes, there is plenty of disabled parking and no stairs. Check for your requirements when booking, as bathrooms are only partially accessible.
Perfect for?
The apartments would really suit most travellers, however considering the city location and modern design, may be best suited to business travellers.
Why stay longer?
Having a self-contained apartment with kitchen and laundry facilities makes it easy and gives the option of eating in. Also the apartments are spacious and a great base for enjoying the sights of Canberra. We really enjoyed the restaurants in Manuka and a Sunday morning spent fossicking through the Old Bus Depot markets in Kingston.
Why you wouldn’t stay longer?
I can’t think of any reason to cut your stay short … a great apartment and there is so much to do in and around Canberra.
Pricing
We paid $250 per night for a two bedroom apartment, however check the listing for other configurations and specials.
