Review - Gungahlin Homestay Bed and Breakfast
  • Comfort and peace
  • Gungahlin Homestay
  • Quiet surrounds

Gungahlin Homestay Bed and Breakfast is the winner of the 2008 TakeABreak best family-friendly holiday accommodation and really goes that extra mile to make the kids feel right at home and the parents spoilt and pampered.

Situated in one of the newer suburbs of Canberra, this property is ideally located just north of the city with easy access from the Federal and Barton Highways. The home is situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac adjacent to a hillside reserve, perfect for walks and to enjoy the spectacular views of north Canberra, especially at sunset. There are two excellent golf courses nearby, Gold Creek and Gungahlin Lakes and within five minutes drive you will find Cockington Green Miniature English Village, The National Dinosaur Museum, Gold Creek Shopping precinct and The George Harcourt Inn (a great place for lunch or dinner.) Located just a ten minute drive away is the suburb of Dickson, which offers a great variety of international restaurants.

The guestroom sleeps two adults and one or two children and while it may not cater for larger families, the experience it provides is unforgettable.  Several children's activities are provided free of charge, including balloon modelling and colouring-in. The selection of child-safe toys, children's DVDs and the Foxtel connection - which includes Nickelodeon, CBEEBIES, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Nick Junior, Boomerang and Playhouse Disney channels - will keep your child happy and entertained. A baby-sitting service is available by arrangement with an experienced police-checked carer who is a mother and grandmother herself.  The large fully fenced backyard will allow your active child to play whilst allowing you peace of mind.  The exclusive children's breakfast on offer will even allow mum and dad to have a coveted sleep in!

However, your child is not the only one to be spoilt at Gungahlin Homestay Bed and Breakfast. Mum and Dad will feel pampered as they enjoy the complimentary port, chocolates and shortbreads and sit back and unwind in luxurious fluffy bathrobes. The new queen size ‘latexco’ bed will allow a perfect night’s sleep and the electric blanket and air-conditioning will provide comfort no matter what the temperature. After a hearty home-cooked breakfast you will be ready to explore all the highlights of the Nation’s Capital, whether it be a trip to the Australian War Memorial, Parliament House or Questacon.

The guestroom also features an ensuite, wireless internet, a spacious walk-thru robe, bar fridge, coffee/tea making facilities, TV/DVD/Foxtel and a collection of DVDs and magazines. The friendly hosts will make you feel right at home as well as providing all the local information you will need to make sure your stay in Canberra is as enjoyable and relaxing as possible.
