2-18 Closeburn Drive
Mt Victoria  NSW

This beautifully restored period guesthouse (circa 1885) located on serene Mount Victoria is perfect for an idyllic romantic getaway. The great service only adds to the old-world charm of the place.

Overall rating?    Excellent

What makes Closeburn House different?
The guesthouse sits in thirteen acres of gardens, giving the property a unique sense of seclusion and escape.

Accommodation overview
The fully-restored house features ten ensuite rooms (able to accommodate up to twenty-two people in total), each configured slightly differently. However, the variety of rooms means that there is a room to suit every couple. We stayed in the beautiful and romantic bridal suite, as a lovely anniversary treat.

Facilities overview
Each guest, whilst having their own private ensuite room also has access to the large dining room and substantial common areas. A log fire and grand piano beautifully complemented the elegant old drawing room.

Outside there is a large European garden with huge mature trees, and bushwalks leading from the property (including one to the Mount York lookout), which allow for relaxing outdoor exploration.

The property also features a fully licensed restaurant, central heating, credit card facilities, a bar, tea/coffee making facilities, telephone, television and undercover/off-street parking.

Continental or fully-cooked breakfast is also available.

Closeburn House is roughly two hours from Sydney - Mount Victoria is the far side of the Blue Mountains in NSW. It is a lovely drive up there so take your time and enjoy it … stop in Blackheath or Katoomba to enjoy the views. The property is right before the Victoria Pass down to Lithgow. The property itself is situated away from highway and railway noise, on thirteen acres of gardens.

Suitable for children?
Children are catered for but the accommodation and food is aimed predominantly at adults and couples.

Suitable for pets?            No

Wheelchair access?        Possible – check for your needs when booking.

Perfect for?
Closeburn House is perfect for romantic getaways, wedding or receptions. Everything is set up for weddings and you can then stay and honeymoon in old-fashioned luxury.

Why stay longer?
Stay that extra day or two so you have the time to enjoy a meal sitting by a roaring coal fire at the local pub after a day out bushwalking. There are too many great pubs and cafes to mention all of them.  Or take the scenic railway down the escarpment from Katoomba - while it’s a bit touristy it really is spectacular. A stroll beyond the main boardwalks into the rainforest is a highlight. You can take the train down and the cable car up, in order to take in the range of magnificent views. Take the cliff walk  near Govett’s Leap - you can go a short way or a lot further if you feel energetic and want to work up an appetite for later. There are also golf and tennis courts, fishing, antique/book stores nearby plus opportunities for horse-riding and wonderful country drives.

Why you wouldn’t stay longer?
If you aren’t a big fan of chilly winter weather you may prefer to escape to a sunny costal town rather than the Blue Mountains.

Mid-week rate per couple per night - bed and breakfast $159.50. Weekend rate per night per couple - bed and breakfast $231.00
