Review - Review – Swissôtel Sydney
By Rachel Power

Recently, we were lucky enough to stay at the Swissôtel Sydney, a five star hotel located right in the heart of the city, walking distance to Darling Harbour, shopping, attractions and the monorail.   We travelled to Sydney for business, however in our line of work, our children are part of our business. It was important to have them with us, yet entertained when we needed, so we chose the Swissôtel Sydney. We booked a Family Package, which included two rooms, a one-bedroom area with meeting space for the adults and the interconnecting room, which was set up as a kid’s paradise!   Swissôtel do a fantastic job with the kids’ room. Bright blue doona covers and adorable brightly coloured toys in the bedroom, to the bright coloured bath mats, ... Read more

Editor's Choice - The African Cottage and The Rondawel
By Lisa Monk

Often when we think of holidays, we think of sparkling sands and pristine waters. However by thinking only of beach holidays, we are missing many of the glorious treasures that nestle in the hinterland behind the beaches. They offer a different type of holiday, but one still within close proximity to beaches, if that is what you are looking for. The hinterland behind the Sunshine Coast hides many treasures, such as The African Cottage and The Rondawel. These African-inspired cottages are the brainchild of Matilda, who came to Australia from South Africa over 20 years ago. She spent many years running a restaurant that served traditional South African food as well as developing a range of sauces, chutneys, marinades and spices. These Gourmet Afrika products are still available, however M... Read more

Spotlight on- The Old Church
By Lisa Monk

The hinterland around Byron Bay is truly God’s own country, with the lush pockets of rainforest, emerald green rolling countryside, fabulous beaches and access to the hustle and bustle of Byron Bay itself or quaint and historic villages like Bangalow. There are wonderful shops, cafes and restaurants, galleries and any number of artisan shops, with everything from saddles to crystals. So, why not stay somewhere that reflects the wonders around you? The Old Church at Newrybar, just near Bangalow, is a beautiful and historic church, built in 1911, that now pays homage to the wonders of this beautiful region, without losing the sense of serenity from its former life. The property has been lovingly restored over the last eight years and features polished floorboards throughout much ... Read more

Spotlight on- Saltus
By Lisa Monk

We all know that life is busy and pulling us in many different directions … work, family, friends, community obligations – but what about our obligation to ourselves? We all need the chance to step away, take stock and recharge, otherwise life becomes merely an obstacle course to overcome, rather than the great adventure it is meant to be. Places like Saltus allow us to draw breath and remember what is really important, and the beauty of the surrounding countryside in the Hepburn Springs region of Victoria makes it easy to forget about pressure and deadlines. These luxury villas are set high above the Mineral Springs Reserve, with panoramic views across the valley below, and yet they are in the heart of the village itself, with easy access to the many delights and attrac...
