Natural Bridge

Natural Bridge is a tiny village in a fold of the mountains of the Mount Warning volcanic caldera. Located in the Gold Coast and Hinterlands on the border of NSW and Queensland, it is a scenic wonderland surrounded by World Heritage National Parks.

Not just one, there is Springbrook National Park which includes the Natural Bridge section famous for its waterfall cave forming the Natural Bridge, and its glow-worms in the evenings; Lamington National Park; and Border Ranges National Park on the NSW side of the border.

For enthusiastic bushwalkers, or casual travellers there are a multitude of tracks, mountain lookouts and scenic attractions taking in the World Heritage grandeur of massive strangler figs, ancient rainforest, rare and endangered flora and fauna dating from prehistoric Gondwanaland.

It is barely conceivable that in the 21st century you can still explore a major natural attraction not shown on any map, but less than an hour from the heart of the Gold Coast. Oddly enough at Natural Bridge, you can walk right off the map into a secret valley containing the highest waterfall in southern Queensland. Only recently named, Quamby Falls (meaning peaceful resting place) is 120 metres high but because of its sheer vertical drop, it has never been recorded by aerial survey or satellite photography. A vertical object does not show up from directly overhead.

Privately owned, this spectacular waterfall is accessible only by guests at exclusive Quamby Falls Lodge romantic couple’s retreat. With sufficient water to operate Quamby Falls Lodge’s own mini-hydro-electric turbine year-round, this magnificent attraction is on a sheer cliff face tucked away in this ancient rainforest of many surprises.

Quamby Falls Lodge is accessible via the car park of Natural Bridge National Park, and accepts guests seeking not only an off-the-map experience, but the ultimate in personalised service and romantic escapes. Your holiday experience is tailored to suit the individual personal attributes of you and your partner, with romantic surprises and attention to detail at every turn, unique among Australian accommodation retreats.

You will really appreciate the difference when you walk off the map at Quamby Falls Lodge in Natural Bridge.
